Civilian Instructors (CIs)

Civilian Instructors provide the bedrock of our organisation, integral to the smooth running of units across squadrons nation-wide. With a minimum amount of time commitment required CIs are suited to those that want to volunteer with young people without worrying about any additional commitment to what may be a busy personal life.

One of few Non-Uniformed roles available many use their time as a CI to find their footing within an incredibly diverse organisation, finding their 'niche' subject before looking to a more demanding uniformed role.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 20 years of age

  • Must be a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years

  • Pass Enhanced DBS checks

  • Committed to sparing 12 hours a month for volunteering

Training

As standard all Civilian Instructors must complete the Adult Volunteer Induction Package and familiarisation day. This gives you a good understanding of the Corps Values, Ethos & Standards. Furthermore you will have a solid understanding of Safeguarding and working with young people.

You don't need any previous experience or knowledge about the Air Cadets, Royal Air Force, Military or working with young people. We'll give you all on-the-job training you need, supporting you every step of the way in your own development.

Expectations

You'll be an integral part to the squadron, so we'll make sure you're confident in your own ability to deliver the cadet experience. The officer commanding will review how you're getting on and will be there to support you, we'll make sure you have the training you need to benefit your time not only in within the Corps but also your everyday life.

We do expect you to uphold our Corps Ethos, Values and Standards at all times.

Remuneration &
