Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs)

SNCOs are the 'boots on the ground' of our Organisation. All SNCOs wear the same uniform as their RAF counterparts. They are Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers whose primary responsibility is the standard of Drill, Dress & Discipline within the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC). Further to their primary duties SNCOs tend to find their own 'niche' specialism be it in Shooting, Adventure Training, Sports, First Aid etc.

Eligibility

  • At least 20 years of age

  • Have resided within the United Kingdom for at least a period of 5 years

  • Subject to DBS & additional vetting

  • Have a minimum 12 hours or more to spare volunteering

Selection & Training

  • Complete 3 months service as a Civilian Instructor (if not from a Military background).

  • Pass a Wing Board Interview

  • Attend and Pass the SSIC course within 12 months of appointment at RAFC Cranwell.

  • Over time and meeting set criteria you will be promoted through the ranks from Sergeant to Warrant Officer

Remuneration &
Allowances

As a SNCO you will be entitled to claim up to 28 Days remuneration at the level appropriate to your rank. Uniform will be provided free of charge with the exception of the Personal Clothing System MTP (PCS). 

You will also be eligible for home-to-duty mileage.
